Our Community

Our clients are amazed at the mental and physical transformations that come from training in our crew of welcoming and empowering women.  No matter if you're just starting your fitness journey or how advanced your skills may be, you will feel inspired and engaged the minute you step through the door.  Friendships and trust form here, and at the end of every sweat-drenched booty kicking, you'll love our cool down, reflection, and gratitude section.  We're on this journey together!  


Each month, our instructors or our community will choose a member who stands out in one way or another for our Athlete of the Month - not a simple undertaking with all of the amazing athletes we have!  We will ask them about their EvoFit journey and share it with you here to inspire and motivate you as they do us.  Most importantly we want to recognize our dedicated members for their hard work and accomplishments, and show the local community that EvoFit is for every woman.  Make the choice, give it a try, be consistent, work hard and trust your journey - you may be surprised at what you will accomplish as a member of EvoFit!


november 2017: sabrina Ramme

What better way to introduce our newest EvoFit Team Member than as our November EvoFit Athlete of the Month!  

Sabrina came to EvoFit at a time in her life that sounds all too familiar as fellow mamas - exhausted from having three little boys in five years… a little discouraged… and although she wasn’t clinging to the person she was in the past, she had also not yet discovered who she was in addition to the title of “mom”.  

As we know, anything that comes easy usually doesn't last and anything that lasts usually doesn’t come easy.  Sabrina took her new outlook in bite-sized chunks.  Her first step was to just show up - which she did consistently for a couple of months. As anyone with kids knows, that little thing called life can throw some crazy curveballs your way, but she stayed the course - her body was getting stronger and so was her resolve.   

With her background as a Registered Dietician, Sabrina knew that she needed to start fueling her body for what she wanted it to do - and this is where the magic happened.  In 9 months, she’s lost 20lbs, has a constant and confident glow, and is only scratching the surface of who she is as an athlete, a person, a woman, and a working mom.


This mama never ceases to inspire us and the EvoFit community around her.  She is a true example of putting yourself first in order to be a stronger, healthier, and happier mama for your family.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY:  My husband, Marc, and I are Pacific Northwest natives.  We both grew up North of Seattle.  We have been together for 20 years, married for 17 years next month.  We have 3 little boys: Max who is almost 6, Marshall, 4 and baby Magnus is just turning one.

I work part-time as a Registered Dietitian at St Joseph Outpatient Center in Tacoma.  When I was in undergrad I wanted to be an actress.  I was struggling with how to make that work, not enjoying the pressure I felt to look a certain way, and I hated living in LA.  I started reading about nutrition and for the first time in my life I was really fascinated by Science-- I wanted to know everything about what happens physiologically when you eat something.  The more I got into health and eating well the better I felt and I switched gears, came home to Seattle, and decided to get a Master's Degree in Nutrition at Bastyr.    It was one of the hardest and best things I have ever done. I finished that program in 2010 and have been working as a Dietitian since then.

Other hobbies: before my youngest was born I enjoyed singing in a local women's choir-- I hope to get back to that again soon,  and I like to take pictures, especially of my kids (if I can get them to hold still)!

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO EVOFIT?  I was aware of Evofit for probably about 2 years before I walked in the door.  My oldest went to the same preschool as Kylie's boys and I would see her running out the door after drop off to go teach, and then in my last job I worked with Laurell Kaiser and she is a regular at Evofit.  I was thinking about trying it out when I got pregnant with my third baby, so after I had him I decided to finally do it.

WHAT IMPACT HAS EVOFIT AND IT’S COMMUNITY HAD ON YOU?  Evofit was exactly what I needed at the moment I needed it.  I had a tough time both physically and emotionally recovering from my last pregnancy.  It was a complicated pregnancy and a traumatic birth and trying to recover from that while being responsible for 3 kids 5 and under just about broke me.  Evo is my refuge-- I get a break from the kids for an hour, talk to other adults, and a giant hit of needed endorphins.  I also get a sense of accomplishment that leaves me feeling great all day.  When I started coming regularly and consistently is when I started to feel like myself again.  As a bonus, I also lost 20 pounds of baby weight!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE CONSIDERING OR JUST JOINING EVOFIT?  Just show up.  It is hard at first.  No one is going to judge you if you have to modify something or do fewer reps.  You are only competing against yourself.  The community here is amazing, people are so supportive and kind.   Just keep going, you never know what you are capable of until you try!

WHAT’S SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?  In my early 20s, when I lived in Southern California, I did some extra work in TV and film.  Somewhere in the sea of concert goers in the movie "Almost Famous" is me in funny 70s wardrobe (along with about 500 other people)! I also am in the background of several very terrible made for TV movies.

october 2017: melissa johanson

Melissa is a woman whose biggest strength is her quiet confidence.  Her leadership lies in being a truly humble, positive, encouraging, but relatively quiet personality with a rock-solid work ethic.  When asked why she nominated Melissa, a fellow member had this to say: “Melissa has inspired me from my first day. She is so supportive of everyone. She powers through every workout with grace, and always manages to have big beautiful smile while doing so.”

Melissa always seems to be in a good mood and you can’t help but reciprocate her above-mentioned infectious smile when she walks in the gym.  She is quick to greet new members, to encourage others through tough sets, and to celebrate fellow athletes’ accomplishments. 

…but make no mistake - this petite mama of two is a beast!  She listens attentively to coaching cues and adapts or course corrects as needed.  With impeccable form, she pushes herself each time, and indeed manages to combine strength with grace throughout every workout.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU : I've been a West Seattle native for most of my life and don't think I will ever leave. I love running into old friends on the streets and have made so many new treasured friends along the way that West Seattle will always be home regardless of my current zip code.  

I'm married and have 2 very energetic and silly kids who keep our house full of life. We love music and like to dance (well 3 out of 4 of us do)  so family dance parties are a must. I love cozy gatherings with family and friends and enjoy being outdoors as much as possible whether it be walking to local stores, biking to the beach, going on mini road trips to play in the snow or chasing the sunshine- I always need fresh air! Travel is always on my mind so I am always cooking up the next adventure!    


WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO EVOFIT?  I did stroller strides when Kylie taught the classes and loved her style so when she left and I later heard she was opening her own company I knew I had to check out EVOFIT and was hooked from there.   

WHAT IMPACT HAS EVOFIT AND IT’S COMMUNITY HAD ON YOU?  Evofit has been such a strong part of my routine for the past few years and I love that every workout is different because I need variety to stay engaged. 

I've also met some fabulous ladies who I am lucky to call friends through Evofit so that alone has been golden.  

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE CONSIDERING OR JUST JOINING EVOFIT?  Take it one day at a time and remember to breathe through the workouts because it really does help.

WHAT’S SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?  I'm a lefty.  Actually 3 out of 4 in our family are solid lefties with one still on the brink and is currently ambidextrous. :)



September 2017: sarah shrader

Where do we even start with our September EvoFit Athlete of the Month, Sarah Shrader!?  

Sarah can be seen most days rolling into the gym on her bike, and let us tell you this mama of two lays it out there EVERY SINGLE TIME.  There are days when she struggles because she chooses to push herself every chance she gets (*ahem* rest day), but Sarah always finishes with a proud and happy grin - usually directly following a fairly menacing grimace.  

Sarah hasn’t always been the hardcore holly you see at the gym.  Her first few classes, she was a little unsure of herself and her abilities, but there was a definite fire that had been ignited in her, even after a random accident at home.  Said one of our members about Sarah: ”She continues to kick ass despite a pretty intense injury that could have led a lot of people to a long-term give up.  She goes out of her way to push herself and appears to be having great results!”

With each and every workout, we get the pleasure of watching Sarah become more confident, stronger, and more determined than the last.  In the past year or so, Sarah has made some tweaks to her eating habits, and let’s just say it shows!!  

Her hard work and dedication, and her ability to have a smile on her face all the while telling you how much that workout sucked, is why Sarah Shrader is our September EvoFit Athlete of the Month!! 

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU:   I have lived in the Puget Sound area my whole life. My husband and I have been together for 20 years, married for 11. We have two children, Leif (8) and Mira (7). I have been a stay at home mom since Leif was born; before that I worked in Graphic Arts/Printing. I enjoy ski touring, nordic skiing, sea kayaking, backpacking, running, traveling, and cooking for friends and family.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO EVOFIT?  Superwoman Sue, darting in and out of co-op preschool with her older daughter. I bid on a 10-class pass at an auction and never looked back.

WHAT IMPACT HAS EVOFIT AND IT’S COMMUNITY HAD ON YOU?  The biggest impact has been on my anxiety level. For the first time in many years, I am able to manage my anxiety, without medication. I don’t know much about brain chemistry, but those endorphins do something!  I feel stronger than ever in my life, and never dreamt I would feel this way at 46. The encouragement and positive attitude of all the woman have, countless times, helped me from feeling defeated or being too hard on myself. There are so many inspiring women!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE CONSIDERING OR JUST JOINING EVOFIT?  Any questions or concerns you have will be answered, and all the instructors are amazing at offering modifications when needed. There is no competition; it really is a community of women who help move each other forward.

WHAT’S SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?  I have an obsession with food blogs.


august 2017: saragh lamb

Anyone who knows Saragh knows she is a force!  One of our members said it best: “She is one motivated lady that is so positive through every workout. She offers encouragement and the little push to get us all to the end of a workout. Amazed how she juggles workouts, life and work!”  

Saragh is indeed a motivated & motivating rockstar mom with a giant heart and an iron grit.  She manages to juggle the demands of a full time career, travel, a large family, and fun with friends, while also consistently carving out time for herself and her fitness goals.     

Saragh has been one of our biggest advocates since starting her EvoFit journey over four years ago and that has meant the world to us.  Watching her evolve over those years has been nothing short of awesome! 

Congratulations, Saragh, we are proud to announce you as EvoFit’s August Athlete of the Month!  

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU: My husband and I have lived in West Seattle for the last 10 years and are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary this year. We have two little girls Sydney (7) and Maggie (4). My whole family lives within a mile of each other. In fact my sisters and I live on the same block! My parents are less than a mile away and we are so grateful for how close we all are in proximity. We're raising a little tribe of cousins that can walk to each other's houses :)

We enjoy doing family trips together and traveling as much as we can. In the summers we all enjoy hanging out at the Normandy Park pool. I love being with friends and spending time with them as much as possible. My favorite time is when my house is filled with friends and family.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO EVOFIT?  My girlfriend, Claudina Valcarlos, introduced me to Evo a little over 4 years ago and I was hooked from day one.  I remember dying through the burpees and push ups but being so inspired by all the strong, capable women around me encouraging me and pushing themselves as hard as they could.

WHAT IMPACT HAS EVOFIT AND IT’S COMMUNITY HAD ON YOU?  Evo has changed my body and my confidence in so many ways. I love that my girls watch me and all the other women, sweating, challenging ourselves and reaching our goals. Not to mention supporting and encouraging each other.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE CONSIDERING OR JUST JOINING EVOFIT?  My advice to anyone considering Evo is to take it one class at a time and focus on you.  Even after 4 years doing Evo I still surprise myself at what I am capable of. You will grow stronger inside and out and learn your true grit.


June 2017: Mackenzie Sullivan

Congratulations to Mackenzie Sullivan for being chosen as our June EvoFit Athlete of the Month! 

If you are fortunate enough to workout beside this powerhouse you know exactly why she was selected.  Her peer said it best: “Despite the struggles of the workouts, Mackenzie keeps things light with her humor and she is always smiling.  She is a super positive workout buddy!”  

Mackenzie’s first introduction to EvoFit was with a brutal Memorial Day workout just a year ago.  She rocked it and has never looked back.  She impressed us that day with her drive and willingness to try new things.  And she has continued to impress us with her commitment, consistency and winning attitude over the course of this year.  

Thank you Mackenzie for always lighting up our mornings with a smile.  And anytime you want to host an Italian feast get together, you know how to get a hold of us ;)



TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU:  I am a mom to three adventurous and sweet boys (Elliot, Maximilian & Julian) and have been married to Jake for almost 13 years. We have two lab mix pups, Mia and Lollipop. Family is my life. I am 100% Italian and treasure any family time/meal gathering I can. Seattle became my home in 1999 following my graduation from Gonzaga. Pre kids I managed the Women's and Coed Conditioning floors at the Washington Athletic Club. Once our first son arrived, I jumped at the opportunity to stay home. Athletics/fitness have always been part of my life. I enjoy doing anything active with my family, traveling, nights out with friends and sunshine!

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO EVOFIT?  I had been searching for a new challenge. I was consistent  between running and pilates, but had a hard time motivating my myself to fit in strength training. Alder Kuhn and Veronica Foster invited me to join Memorial Day 2016 for the Murph workout. It was challenging to say the least but I was hooked! Loved meeting them early mornings for EVO and getting to know the EvoFit community. 

WHAT IMPACT HAS EVOFIT AND IT’S COMMUNITY HAD ON YOU? EVO has been my happy place during a very challenging year for me personally. The community has pushed me to find my inner strength, celebrate meeting my goals and sanity to get through crazy days. I love walking into workouts, seeing the tribe and getting after it. The sense of accomplishment before 7am keeps me going through all that pops up in my day.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE CONSIDERING OR JUST JOINING EVOFIT?  Just try it, go your own pace and know you have the support of many amazing women. 

WHAT’S SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?  I love to create meals and a gathering place for family and friends. 


MAY 2017: Ashley Baerwaldt  

There are several reasons we've chosen Ashley as our first EvoFit Athlete of the Month.  From the first day she started with us, Ashley has embodied the words "female strong".  Her positive energy, infectious smile, and amazing work ethic through both good and rough seasons is an inspiration to all of those around her.  Ashley is so welcoming and supportive of every new athlete that enters our doors and it has been so much fun watching her get stronger and evolve as an athlete, a woman, a mom, and a friend!

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU: I am originally from Tyler, Texas and a Longhorn Alumni. My husband Craig and I have two beautiful children who both attend school at Tilden Elementary. I am an active volunteer at their school and serve on Seattle Children's Guild. I love being with my friends and entertaining.
